Hi, I’m Ms. I.T., a licensed teacher in Canada and the founder of J’elevate.
Back in 2011, I started my journey in education with one big question: How can I make learning easier and more joyful for kids?
One day, a friend asked me to help her child who was struggling with reading. I tried a different approach… simple, playful, and step-by-step. In just 2 hours, that child started reading with confidence.
Later, another child came over to spend the evening with me. We laughed, played, and by the end of the night, that child was reading too.
That’s when I knew learning doesn’t have to be hard. It just has to be done right.
Fast forward to 2020, the pandemic hit, and I volunteered with a University of Calgary program that supported children learning English as a second language. My assigned student couldn’t read or speak English yet. But week after week, using the same gentle method, they began to thrive. Within 4 months, that child was speaking clearly and reading on their own.
It was a turning point. I realized I could bring this kind of support to more families from the comfort of their homes. I tested the same approach with math, and it worked again. Kids who once cried over numbers began solving problems and smiling while doing it.

I’ve worked with dozens of families who felt anxious and unsure. But once their children were seen, heard, and supported properly, they began to soar.
That’s why I created J’elevate, a safe, supportive online space where kids from Kindergarten to Grade 12 can grow in reading, writing, math, and science, with tutors who care deeply and teach with heart. Every child deserves to succeed. And we’re here to help make that happen.

Ms. Daphane Matthew
30 years of experience
I have been a teacher for over thirty years. As a mother of six, I took time to raise my family before pursuing my dream of becoming a teacher.
I have taught all grades, including being part of one of the very first pre-kindergarten classes in Alberta, but my true passion has always been teaching classroom music. My time teaching in the United Kingdom gave me new insights into different teaching practices and was a valuable learning experience. I continue to substitute and teach, and I also make time to travel as part of my retirement journey.
Ms. Umanah
9 years of experience
Hi! I’m Ms. Umanah, a kindergarten teacher with over 9 years of experience helping little ones become confident readers and writers. I truly believe that learning should be fun, engaging, and full of “aha!” moments.
In my sessions, I use stories, songs, games, and lots of encouragement to help each child grow at their own pace. I love watching my students light up when they finally “get it”, and I’m here to make sure your child has more and more of those moments.
Mr. Abatan Adedayo

Hello! I’m Mr. Adedayo, and I’ve been teaching both primary and secondary school students for over 12 years. My approach is simple: create a relaxed, encouraging space where kids feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and celebrating their wins.
I pay close attention to what each student needs and adjust my methods so they feel supported, not pressured. One of my favorite parts of teaching is watching that spark of understanding light up in a student’s eyes, and I work hard to create more of those moments every session.
